<div>On July 9th, our lives took a dramatic turn when <strong>our son was unexpectedly struck by a distracted driver en route to his summer job as a lifeguard at Ward 3.</strong> He was subsequently airlifted to Lafayette General Trauma Hospital, where he received ICU treatment for 9 days. His injuries were substantial, including head trauma resulting from a fractured skull, a broken leg, heel reattachment surgery, and a broken ankle.
