<div>Growing up, school was my refuge from an abusive home and the teachers who championed me by slipping extra books into my backpack, challenging me with riddles, guiding me toward scholarship programs quite literally changed the trajectory of my life. Their belief carried me from that chaotic childhood all the way to a university degree, a career in applied behaviour analysis, and now to the threshold of becoming a certified teacher myself.

<div>When our classroom teacher at Oakbridge Academy had to step away last spring, I stepped in. Those two months at the front of the room, crafting lesson plans, balancing IEP goals, and watching “aha!” moments spark in students with autism, confirmed what my heart already knew: I’m meant to teach.
