<div>On July 14th, I lost the love of my life, Nick, to cancer, after 41 beautiful years together. He passed away peacefully at home, with me by his side. My heart is broken, and I’m now facing an unimaginable reality — not only life without Nick, but the very real risk of losing the home we shared for 21 years.

<div>When we began this cancer journey, we knew it would be hard. Nick was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer that had spread to his bones, spine, and lymph nodes. We were devastated. Nick had spent his entire life helping others — serving as President of Christmas in April, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, and Director for The Sunshine Kids Foundation, helping children with cancer across the country. He gave so much to others — and never once asked for anything in return.

<div>Then, seven months after Nick’s diagnosis, I received one of my own: stage 4 melanoma. After two emergency skull surgeries and months of treatment, I was downgraded to high-risk stage 2 and am currently in remission. But the focus remained on Nick — his survival, his strength, his hope.

<div>Nick endured 12 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 rounds of nuclear radiation, 5 rounds of regular radiation, and countless procedures. After all that, he suffered a heart attack, and just 7 days later, a stroke that left him blind in one eye and deaf in one ear. And still, he never complained. He was always more worried about me than about himself.

<div>The cost of fighting cancer, even with insurance, is staggering. We faced injections costing $6,000–$9,000 and treatments up to $12,000 each, and mounting expenses totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. We were forced to make impossible choices: which treatments we could afford and which we had to delay or sacrifice, all in the hope of saving Nick’s life.

<div>We both had to stop working. Cancer ended our careers, and our income, and now I find myself alone, emotionally shattered, and on the brink of losing our home. We need $17,526 to avoid foreclosure, and time is running out.

<div>Nick told me, just two days before he passed, that it was okay to ask for help. That it wasn’t something to be ashamed of. That our friends and family would understand, because they love us. So now I’m asking. With everything I have left, I’m asking.
