<div>For <em>"Daniel,"</em> that has been his reality since he was two, when he suffered devastating trauma to his esophagus. Since then, he’s been unable to swallow even his own saliva, surviving on liquefied meals passed through a feeding tube.

<div>His father — a single dad of three — has fought every day to keep him alive. In their home country, he would blend solid foods with milk to pass through the tube. When their blender was stolen during their migration journey to the U.S., he even chewed food by mouth to feed his son through the tube.

<div>Now, after 11 years of searching, Daniel finally has the chance to undergo a complex surgery that could allow him to eat normally for the first time in his life. His father brought their family to the United States with one dream: to make this surgery possible — and to give Daniel a future beyond survival.
