<div>On the evening of July 16th, a terrifying lightning strike hit a structure on the property of Chesapeake Feline Association’s main shelter. The bolt caused smoke and electrical damage, prompting the swift evacuation of our shelter manager, her family, and several cats.

<div>Thankfully, no one was injured, and the fire department responded quickly, clearing the facility after a thorough inspection. However, the aftermath revealed serious concerns with the shelter’s electrical system. After consulting with a licensed electrician, it’s been determined that we need approximately $5,000 in critical rewiring to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and—most importantly—our cats. As well as additional funds for emergency supplies, generator, tree removal, etc.

<div>We’re a small nonprofit that relies entirely on donations, and this unexpected expense is a heavy burden on our already tight budget. Every dollar raised will go directly toward repairing the electrical damage and restoring a safe environment for the people and animals who call CFA home.
