<div>Hi! My name is Arisbeth Muñoz. I live in San Diego, California, with my husband and two sons. On December 28th, 2024, I began to feel unwell and was admitted to the Emergency Room in the afternoon. The physicians wanted to release me, but with my pain increasing, I stubbornly requested to stay. Soon after, the physicians confirmed that I had contracted the Influenza virus, and my oxygen levels kept decreasing, which resulted in my intubation. The results of a blood culture revealed that I was positive for a bacteria called "streptococcus pyogenes" which had contaminated my entire body and had begun to damage all of my organs. Having been perfectly fine that morning, my body was now in a state of sepsis. To save my life, the physicians administered medication to help my heart. However, in my rapidly declining state, my family was contacted so that we could say our final goodbyes as I was expected to die that night. I thank God that this did not come to pass. After ten days in an induced comatose state, I suffered a heart attack. After ten minutes of attempts to revive me, my heart began beating again. However, the physicians soon found an internal hemorrhage, which they were able to stop. Sadly, my extremities (arms, hands, legs, and feet) stopped receiving blood because of the medication that the physicians were administering, which was helping my heart to beat. Therefore, parts of my extremities had to be amputated. For five months since being admitted into the ER, I was admitted into six different hospitals, and was able to keep breathing with the help of machines. I was able to remain stable with the help of dialysis and with feeding tubes. I thank God because I am no longer reliant on those machines, and I can breathe and eat independently. There are no words to express my gratitude to those of you who have read my story and who feel in their heart to help raise money for my prosthetics for my legs and my arms, as well as for physical therapy. As a mother, this would truly help me continue to care for myself and for my two sons, Matthew and Enrique, who are autistic and who have relied heavily on me in terms of care, as well as to be present at their therapy, evaluation and medical appointments. Now, during this trying time, I desire nothing more than to continue to care for them. It is for this reason that I need your help more than ever, so I can afford these prosthetics. <div>¡Hola! Me llamo Arisbeth Muñoz. Vivo en San Diego, California, con mi esposo y mis dos hijos. El 28 de diciembre de 2024, comencé a sentirme mal y me ingresaron en urgencias por la tarde. Los médicos querían darme de alta, pero como el dolor aumentaba, insistí en quedarme. Poco después, confirmaron que había contraído el virus de la influenza y que mis niveles de oxígeno seguían disminuyendo, lo que provocó mi intubación. Los resultados de un hemocultivo revelaron que di positivo a una bacteria llamada "Streptococcus pyogenes", que había contaminado todo mi cuerpo y había comenzado a dañar todos mis órganos. Tras haber estado perfectamente bien esa mañana, mi cuerpo se encontraba en estado de sepsis. Para salvarme la vida, los médicos me administraron medicamentos para el corazón. Sin embargo, dado el rápido deterioro de mi estado, contactaron a mi familia para que pudiéramos despedirnos por última vez, ya que se esperaba que falleciera esa noche. Doy gracias a Dios de que esto no ocurriera. Tras diez días en coma inducido, sufrí un infarto. Tras diez minutos de intentos de reanimación, mi corazón volvió a latir. Sin embargo, los médicos pronto detectaron una hemorragia interna, que lograron detener. Lamentablemente, mis extremidades (brazos, manos, piernas y pies) dejaron de recibir sangre debido a la medicación que me administraban los médicos, la cual ayudaba a mi corazón a latir. Por lo tanto, tuvieron que amputarme partes de las extremidades. Durante los cinco meses que siguieron, estuve ingresada en seis hospitales diferentes y pude seguir respirando con la ayuda de máquinas. Logré mantenerme estable gracias a la diálisis y a las sondas de alimentación. Doy gracias a Dios porque ya no dependo de esas máquinas y puedo respirar y comer de forma independiente, aunque aun me es dificil cuidar de mi misma por mis amputaciones. No tengo palabras para expresar mi gratitud a quienes han escuchado mi historia y desean de corazón ayudar a recaudar fondos para mis prótesis de piernas y brazos, así como para la fisioterapia. Como madre, esto me ayudaría enormemente a seguir cuidando de mi misma y de mis dos hijos, Mateo y Enrique, quienes son autistas y han dependido mucho de mí para su cuidado, así como para estar presente en sus terapias, evaluaciones y citas médicas. Ahora, en estos momentos difíciles, mi mayor deseo es seguir cuidándolos. Por eso, necesito su ayuda más que nunca para poder comprar estas prótesis. ¡Muchas gracias por su atención y apoyo! ¡Que Dios los bendiga!
