</div>
<div>After graduating from high school, I had a clear vision: I was going to be a filmmaker. For months, I traveled, following my heart and intuition, creating my first short films, knowing I was where I was meant to be. Two days after Christmas I landed in San Francisco and couldn’t stop smiling. That place had called to me for as long as I remember. I knew I was going to have a significant mission there. Each visit deepened my conviction that my path was tied to this city. Years later, I finally understood why.

<div><strong>Falling Apart, Finding Strength</strong>
</div>
<div>After my trip, however, life took a different turn. My days lacked structure and purpose. I felt as though I’d interrupted something I should have continued. I was drifting. Desperate to hold onto something, I had a thought that changed everything: <em>At least I can control my body. </em>Gradually, I imposed rules on myself, listening to a voice that dictated me when, what, and how much I was allowed to eat. Despite becoming less and less, hunger became an intoxicating way of feeling strong. Something was off, yet, I was far beyond stopping. A year later, I was nothing but skin and bones.

<div><strong>The Healing Power of Drama</strong>
</div>
<div>I committed to a clinical program following strict treatment plans and reclaiming my strength, step by step. Three months later I was ready for my next chapter: Film School. Filmmaking gave me the freedom to express my inner world without fear or judgment and transform it into stories. Acting, in particular, helped me reconnect with my emotions and my body, both of which I had lost in the battles of anorexia. Through this process I found true healing.

<div>We all long to be seen, heard and loved for who we truly are. Drama allows a unique way to show up unfiltered embracing that free, childlike part within us. It breaks my heart whenever I see someone like I once was - trapped in relentless self-destruction. They have a story worth telling. Everyone does. And I want to give them the stage to tell it.
</div>
<div>For years, I believed my struggles were nothing but a burden. Now I see the precious gift behind them and I am determined to share it with the world.
</div>

<div><strong>Becoming a Drama Therapist </strong>
</div>
<div>When I first learned about Drama Therapy and discovered the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, everything suddenly made sense. This was my mission. It has been a couple of years ago since I received my acceptance letter and have already successfully completed my first academic year. The Master’s program at CIIS trains students to use storytelling, role-play, improvisation, and playback theater in therapeutic environments. These creative methods help clients process emotions held in their bodies and transform negative experiences, especially powerful for those with eating disorders. It is my deep vision to combine my passion for acting and storytelling with healing through creating collaborative theatre projects and supporting individuals in one-on-one settings in my private practice.

<div><strong>How You Can Help</strong>

<div>As an international student, I have limited access to traditional funding options and financial aid. The full program costs around $90,000. While I have already covered part of my tuition through personal savings, support through  family, two scholarships  and of course all those wonderful people who donated through GoFundMe, I still need an essential amount to cover the remaining tuition costs.

<div>My first fundraising goal is $10,000 — a crucial milestone to give me a breather for my continuing journey beyond the second academic year. It will help cover part of outstanding tuition fees for the third year, travel expenses ( flight, transportation from Austria to San Francisco with my furry kiddo), as well as helping with necessary living expenses (rent, food, pet food, local public transportation to work and school)

<div>Since my visa only allows me to work a maximum of 20 hours per week on campus for minimum wage, my current funds and potential income are not enough to cover the high living costs in the Bay Area. <div>mein Name ist Sonja und ich habe eine langjährige Magersucht überwunden. Jetzt verfolge ich meinen Traum, Dramatherapie in San Francisco zu studieren, um später anderen Menschen zu helfen, die unter Essstörungen leiden.

<div><strong>Richtig Sein</strong>
</div>
<div>Nach der Schule hatte ich eine ganz klare Vision: Ich wollte Filmemacherin werden. Monatelang reiste ich umher, drehte meine ersten Kurzfilme – und wusste, dass alles gut und richtig war, wie es lief. Zwei Tage nach Weihnachten landete ichin San Francisco und konnte vom ersten Augenblick an nicht aufhören bis über beide Ohren zu strahlen. Diese Stadt hatte mich gerufen, solange ich denken kann. Ich hatte dort eine wichtige Aufgabe, die auf mich wartete, auch wenn ich noch nicht wusste, was es war. Jahre später verstand ich schließlich, warum.

<div><strong>Auseinanderfallen und Neu Zusammensetzen</strong>
</div>
<div>Nach der Rückkehr dieser Reise nahm mein Leben jedoch eine andere Richtung auf. Meine Tage hatten weder Struktur noch Sinnhaftigkeit. Ich trieb ziellos umher. Ich hatte etwas unterbrochen, das ich hätte fortsetzen sollen. Verzweifelt suchte ich nach etwas, woran ich mich festhalten konnte und das Einzige, was mir dazu in den Sinn kam, war mein Körper. über den konnte ich Kontrolle haben. Nach und nach erlegte ich mir strikte Regeln auf und hörte auf eine innere Stimme, die bestimmte, wann, was und wie viel ich essen durfte. Obwohl ich immer weniger wurde, gab mir das Hungergefühl eine berauschende Illusion von Stärke. Irgendetwas stimmte nicht, aber ich war längst nicht mehr in der Lage, aufzuhören. Ein Jahr später bestand ich nur noch aus Haut und Knochen.
</div>
<div>„Du bist egoistisch und manipulierst alle um dich herum mit deiner Krankheit. Wenn du sterben willst, ist mir das egal.“

<div>Es war das Schlimmste, was meine Mutter je zu mir gesagt hatte - und doch war es der Moment, in dem ich mich für das Leben entschied.

<div><strong>Die heilende Kraft des Spielens</strong>
</div>
<div>Ich begann ein Klinikprogramm, folgte einem strikten Stundenplan und gewann in kleinen Schritten an Stabilität.
</div>
<div>Noch lange nicht gesund, aber bereit für das nächste Kapitel begann ich drei Monate später mein Filmstudium. Filme zu machen gab mir die Freiheit, meine innere Welt auszudrücken – ohne Angst und ohne Verurteilung – und sie in Geschichten zu verwandeln. Insbesonders das Schauspielen half mir, wieder Zugang zu meinen Gefühlen und meinem Körper zu finden – beides hatte ich im Kampf gegen die Magersucht verloren.
</div>
<div>Wir alle sehnen uns danach, gesehen, gehört und geliebt zu werden ohne die Masken, die wir uns tagtäglich aufsetzen. Die Bühne ermöglicht es uns, uns ungefiltert zu zeigen und diesen freien, kindlichen Teil in uns wiederzuentdecken. Es bricht mir das Herz, wenn ich heute Menschen sehe, die so gefangen sind im Kampf gegen ihren eigenen Körper, wie ich es einst war. Icch möchte ihnen die Bühne geben, ihre Stimme wieder zu finden und auszudrücken, was sie bewegt, denn sie haben etwa zu sagen.
</div>
<div>Lange Zeit glaubte ich, meine Essstörung sei ein Fehler im System gewesen, ich war der Fehler im System und verschwendete meine Lebenszeit. Heute sehe ich das kostbare Geschenk, das sich dahinter verbirgt – und ich bin fest entschlossen, es mit der Welt zu teilen.

<div><strong>Mein Weg zu Dramatherapie</strong>
</div>
<div>Als ich zum ersten Mal von Dramatherapie hörte und auf das California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco stieß, wusste ich, wo mich mein Weg weiter führte und habe mittlerweile schon das erste Jahr erfolgreich abgeschlossen.  Das Master-Programm in Theatertherapie am CIIS bildet Studierende darin aus, mit Methoden wie Geschichtenerzählen, Rollenspiel, Improvisation und Playback-Theater in therapeutischen Kontexten zu arbeiten. Gleichzeitig führt die Ausbildung zur Lizenzberechtigung für Psychotherapie (MFT) in Kalifornien. Diese interdisziplinären Ansätze helfen Menschen, Emotionen, die im Körper gespeichert sind, zu verarbeiten und negative Erfahrungen zu transformieren, was besonders effektiv bei Menschen mit Essstörungen ist. Es ist meine große Vision nach dem Studium meine Leidenschaft für Schauspiel mit Heilung und Spritualität zu verbinden, gemeinsame Theaterprojekte zu kreieren sowie Menschen im 1:1 Setting ganzheitlich zu begleiten.

<div><strong>Wie ihr mich unterstützen könnt</strong>
</div>
<div>Als internationale Studentin habe ich nur eingeschränkten Zugang zu klassischen Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten. Das gesamte Programm kostet rund 90.000 US-Dollar. Ein Teil der Studiengebühren ist bereits durch eigene Ersparnisse und Arbeit,  Unterstützung von Freunden und Familie  zwei  Stipendien und natürlich dank all den großartigen SpenderInnen auf GoFundMe gedeckt – um das zweite und dritte Jahr gut zu bewältigen, fehlen mir dafür noch essenzielle Mittel.
</div>
<div>Mein aktuelles Spendenziel liegt bei 10.000 Dollar – ein entscheidender Meilenstein für meinen weiteren Weg. Damit werde ich offene  Studiengebühren,Reisekosten (Flug und Transport für mich und meinen Kater) sowie die notwendigen Lebenshaltungskosten, die über die Mietkosten hinausgehen abdecken( öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, Katzenfutter, Arbeitsmaterialien für das Studium)
