<div>The lynching of Professor Jason Arday has devastated many of us as it is yet another cruel reminder of white supremacy, global anti-Blackness and the dehumanisation of Black bodies that are incessantly hounded to death by the media.

<div><a href="https://Www.blackpsychotherapy.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Black Psychotherapy</a> is a Black and Global Majority mental health service based in London and working online, we provide decolonial, intersectional and anti-oppressive counselling and psychotherapy through a politicised, justice-based lens. While we stand in solidarity with Jason’s family, friends and everyone who knew him, we’re raising funds to provide free, culturally responsive grief and crisis support for Black and Global Majority communities affected by Jason’s death.

<div>Funds raised will enable us to offer:

<li>Free facilitated grief circles, creating spaces where people can come together, reflect, grieve and be witnessed in community.
</li>
<li>Free short-term crisis counselling for those who need more individual support following the news.
</li>
<li>Spaces specifically held by Black and Global Majority therapists and facilitators, where the racial, cultural and political dimensions of grief can be spoken about without explanation or translation.
</li>
<li>Accessible online support, allowing those from across the UK to participate regardless of location.
</li>
<li>Ad hoc in-person spaces to rage, breathe and grieve together.
</li>

<div>We already provide accessibly priced general and specialist group therapy, but we are not a funded service and we don’t feel comfortable charging communities to process harm that should never have happened in the first place. Jason’s loss speaks to our own intersectional experiences of racism, exclusion, precarious survival, and exhaustion of living in a violent world.

<div>If we raise more than is required to meet the immediate demand, we will use the remaining funds to extend free grief and crisis support to Black and Global Majority people who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
