Hi, I’m Koriel, and I’m fundraising to help save my vision.

On May 13, 2025, I underwent Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL) in my left eye because of advanced keratoconus. At the same time, my right eye was dealing with a much more serious complication causing  acute corneal hydrops, severe swelling, scarring, and significant vision loss.

I truly believed that by this point, I would have already had the surgery I need. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.

My right eye remains severely damaged, and I continue to experience periods of pain, sensitivity, swelling, blurred or distorted vision, and difficulty seeing clearly. Some days are better than others, but my vision remains unpredictable.

Because of the permanent damage and scarring from the hydrops, I now need a full-thickness corneal transplant, called a penetrating keratoplasty (PK), in my right eye.

I have been waiting for surgery and am currently on a waiting list because my eye specialist has been booked for months. On top of that, I am currently without health insurance, leaving me responsible for the cost of my treatment.

The estimated cost of my full PK surgery and related care is approximately $29,000 out of pocket.

At 28 years old, this is something I never imagined I would be facing.

I am doing everything I can to keep moving forward. I’m trying to work, live my life, and remain hopeful while dealing with something that affects one of the most important parts of everyday life ; being able to see.

I don’t want to spend the next chapter of my life worrying about whether I can afford the treatment that could help me regain useful vision in my right eye.

I know $29,000 is a huge amount of money. I also know that I cannot reach this goal alone.
