While my mother mopped up water from busting pipes, my father tried to get the generator going so they could use the shop vac to get water sucked up. In the process, he ran out of oxygen and died in his vehicle alone in 19 degree weather in just the blink of an eye. My parents were on fixed income, so as you can imagine, my mom is not prepared for any of this.
