<div>Hello everyone,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Nick,
</div>
<div>I’m organizing this fundraiser to help a couple who were suddenly displaced from their home just days before Christmas — through no fault of their own.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They were living in a rental that was later identified as not being registered as a legal separate dwelling. When the city became aware, the landlord chose eviction rather than making the required changes. The eviction was enforced through court-authorized municipal enforcement, leaving the couple with very little time to prepare.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They do have income and are fully capable of paying rent. However, this was an unplanned and abrupt situation, and the timing — combined with the current rental market — has created immediate challenges.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Right now, the biggest needs are short-term support while permanent housing is secured, including:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Temporary accommodation (hotel or short-term rental)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Moving and storage costs
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Last month’s rent once a suitable place is found
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Costs related to finding a pet-friendly rental for them and their dog
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser is not for long-term financial support, but to help bridge an unexpected and stressful gap caused by sudden displacement.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The response from the community has already been incredible — with housing leads, resources, and support being shared — and this fund is meant to complement those efforts and help stabilize things during this transition.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared, or offered help. Community matters, and your support truly makes a difference.
</div>
