<div><a href="https://www.sehatnonprofit.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>SEHAT</strong></a> is an Onalaska-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Ali Abidi and led by a <a href="https://www.sehatnonprofit.org/ourteam" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>team</strong></a> of students from Onalaska High School. It is a youth-driven initiative with a vision to reduce health inequity in our community. From day one, SEHAT has been about young people taking initiative, learning how to build something from the ground up, and gaining leadership skills that will stay with them for a lifetime.

<div>Over the past few months, the SEHAT team has been <a href="https://www.sehatnonprofit.org/interviews" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>building bridges</strong></a> with community leaders. They met with the Gundersen by Emplify Social Services team and the Mayo Clinic La Crosse Social Services department to learn about local health equity efforts and community needs. These conversations not only provided valuable insights but also connected students with professionals committed to reducing barriers to care.

<div>Turning Ideas Into Action

<div>SEHAT is now turning ideas into action. The team is raising awareness of <a href="https://www.sehatnonprofit.org/apollohealth" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>ApolloHealth</strong></a>, a free mobile app developed by one of the team members, that connects uninsured and underserved patients to nearby clinics. They are also preparing to present at community <a href="https://www.sehatnonprofit.org/events" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>events</strong></a>, introducing SEHAT’s mission and vision to the public.

<div>Recognizing that transportation, lack of health insurance, and language as the greatest barriers to healthcare access, SEHAT is launching this fundraiser to directly support local organizations working to address these critical social determinant of health. In addition, a portion of the funds will be directed to the Onalaska School District and the La Crosse School District to strengthen their social services programs, particularly those focused on advancing healthcare equity for students and families.
