My name is Janet Walker and I’m asking for donations for my best friend, Patti King. I’ve had the privilege of having Patti as a lifelong friend, growing up across the street from each other and our mothers pregnant with us at the same time. Throughout the years, we have remained good friends and have shared many memories, which I am so grateful for. Patti is an incredible person, and I have always been in awe of her strength and resilience while facing tremendous obstacles, but none so challenging as the ones she is now facing. Recently, after suffering from a long bout with COVID, she was admitted into the hospital with shortness of breath. One of her lungs was completely full of fluid and required the painful procedure of draining it. While still hospitalized and after having to go through several grueling lab tests, the results showed evidence of cancer cells in her body. Shortly after being discharged and visiting her oncologist, she had to endure more tests to determine exactly where the cancer was located. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Ovarian Cancer with pleural effusion. This came as a complete surprise to her, something she was not prepared for. She and her husband, Stephen King, both being retired and living on a very strict fixed income, are now facing enormous medical expenses.
