She is the kind of person who is always the first to help others but the last to ask for it herself, which is why it took a lot of convincing for me to create this fundraiser.

<div>My friend, whom I'll call "Bambi," was recently diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. After undergoing a stem cell transplant, she's facing a long recovery that will keep her in the hospital for several weeks and then in long-term care away from home for a few months. While she anticipated being unable to work during this time, we recently discovered that her critical care insurance will not provide the benefits she anticipated. She's always been a private person, which is why we're using a nickname, and she doesn't want to burden her family, especially since several of them have already been an incredible source of support—even to the extent of being her donor.

<div>I've never made a request like this, but I believe in the compassion of people who are part of my circle. If you've ever had a loved one who you were willing to do anything for, then you understand what this means to me. My goal is to raise $15,000 to assist with out-of-pocket medical expenses and the daily living costs she'll continue to have during her recovery.
