Since opening in 1953, the Vernon Plaza Theater has been a landmark of Texas cinema, built on the historic site of the Vernon Opera House. It made history as the state's first theater built to show 3-D movies. Though it fell into disrepair, it was rescued and revived by committed owners over the years.
