<div>I am Dr. Christina Blanchard-Horan. From 1999 to 2023, I worked and lived in Uganda and witnessed firsthand both the beauty of its people and the profound challenges faced by its most vulnerable—its children.

<div>In the rural district of Bugiri, the Child Raising Center stands today as a sanctuary for more than 70 children who once had nowhere to turn. These are children who were abandoned, orphaned, or living in extreme poverty—many without reliable food, shelter, or safety.
</div>

</div>
<div>Today, they have a place to call home. But the journey to sustain and grow this haven continues.
</div>

<div>A Reality Many Never See
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Before arriving at the Center, many of these children slept on bare ground in grass huts, often going days without food. Some faced dangers no child should ever encounter.
</div>

</div>
<div>Even now, the challenges persist. Just last Christmas, while many celebrated, our children faced the very real threat of losing their shelter. This past year, we also endured heartbreaking loss, reminding us how fragile their safety can be.
</div>

<div>Yet through it all, we continue forward—because giving up is not an option.
