<div>After my mom passed away from cancer in 2016, my father, who had immigrated to Houston in 1980, moved to Brooklyn to be closer to me and my sister.

<div>In 2018, he was considering two apartments in the area—one on a higher floor overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and another on a lower floor across the street from a church. He eventually chose the apartment on the lower floor overlooking the parking lot on Jay Street because it reminded him of my mother whose name was Jai.

<div>My father lived in Brooklyn for eight years before passing in 2024. Now living in his apartment, I feel that I can still connect with him—looking out into the parking lot, hearing the church bells on my walks home, chatting with his neighbors.

<div>Creating Chamber Music on Jay St is my way of giving back to my Dad who raised me in Houston when he immigrated, but who gave me a space to be an artist in Brooklyn.
