<div>Hanna ist Mitte Dreißig und lebt nahe Berlin. Sie leidet an dem Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrom (einer Erkrankung des Bindegewebes, die zu Hypermobilität und Instabilitäten in den Gelenken führt) und weiteren Komorbiditäten. Aktuell ist Hanna komplett bettlägerig und pflegebedürftig, hat schwerste Unverträglichkeiten und kann nur wenige Sätze am Tag sprechen. Doch wie kam es dazu?

<div>Vor Ausbruch ihrer Erkrankung arbeitete Hanna als Sozialarbeiterin, reiste gerne, machte Yoga, fotografierte und war viel mit ihrem Hund unterwegs. 2017 wurde Hanna nach einer Fehlbehandlung erstmals bettlägerig, es folgten Jahre der Diagnostik, unter anderem mit einer schweren Kopfgelenksinstabilität.

<div>2021 erhielt Hanna dann eine lebensrettende Operation an der Halswirbelsäule. Dr. Gilete aus Barcelona - ein Neurochirurg, der auf das Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrom und die Komorbiditäten spezialisiert ist - versteifte die Kopfgelenke in einer komplizierten Operation.

<div>Leider kann es in Einzelfällen als Folge der Versteifung zu weiteren Instabilitäten in den darunterliegenden Wirbeln kommen. Trotz aller Vorsichtsmaßnahmen geschah dies bei Hanna und wurde durch eine invasive Untersuchung in Deutschland, bei der die wichtigen Vorschriften für Halswirbelsäulenoperierte nicht eingehalten wurden, stark verschlimmert. Seitdem leidet Hanna unter schweren neurologischen Ausfällen und ist erneut komplett bettlägerig und pflegebedürftig. Sie benötigt dringend eine Erweiterung ihrer ersten Versteifungs-Operation auf die darunter liegenden Wirbel, eine sogenannte fusion extension.

<div>Hanna is in her mid-thirties and lives near Berlin. She suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a connective tissue disorder that causes hypermobility and instability in the joints) and other comorbidities. Currently, Hanna is completely bedridden and in need of care, has severe intolerances and can only speak a few sentences a day. But how did this happen?

<div>Before the onset of her disease, Hanna worked as a social worker, enjoyed traveling, doing yoga, photography and spending a lot of time with her dog. In 2017, Hanna first became bedridden after a maltreatment, followed by years of diagnostics leading to the diagnosis of severe upper cervical instability.

<div>Then in 2021, Hanna received life-saving fusion surgery of her upper vertebrae. Dr. Gilete from Barcelona - a neurosurgeon who specializes in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome - fused the upper cervical joints in a complicated operation.

<div>Unfortunately, in some cases, further instability in the underlying vertebrae can occur as a risk factor. Despite all precautions, this happened to Hanna and was heavily aggravated by an invasive examination in Germany, where important regulations for cervical spine surgery patients were not followed.

So bleibt Betroffenen nur die Möglichkeit, sich für notwendige Operationen an der Halswirbelsäule an spezialisierte internationale Chirurgen zu wenden. In Deutschland gibt es derzeit keinen Spezialisten dieser Art.

<div>WAS GESCHAH BEIM ERSTEN AUFENTHALT IN 2021?

<div>Bei der ersten Op wurde Hanna in Höhe von C0-C2 versteift. Zusätzlich fand in dieser Op eine Dekompression der rechten Jugularvene statt.

<div>In einer zweiten Op wurde das Okkulte Tethered Cord operiert, was sehr häufig gemeinsam mit der Halswirbelsäuleninstabilität auftritt. Hierbei wurde das Filum Terminale in Höhe L2/3 durchtrennt. Inzwischen wird die zweite Op (wenn auch mit anderer Methode) ebenfalls regelmäßig in Deutschland durchgeführt.

<div>Trotz monatelangen Antragstellungen und Bemühungen lehnt die Krankenkasse jegliche Kostenübernahmen oder Bezuschussungen ab.

<div>Auch notwendige stabilisierende Medikamente für die Komorbiditäten werden nicht übernommen und stellen eine dauerhafte finanzielle Belastung für Hanna dar, die von einer Erwerbsminderungsrente lebt.

<div>WARUM SIND DIE AMBULANZFLÜGE SO TEUER?
</div>

<div>Ambulanzflüge haben einen so erheblichen Preis, weil sie ein speziell ausgebildetes Team bestehend aus einem Notfallmediziner, einem Krankenhelfer und zwei Piloten, benötigen. Für den Flug sind umfangreiche Vorbereitungen für den jeweiligen individuellen Fall notwendig und das Team befindet sich im ständigen Kontakt mit einem Fallbegleiter am Boden. Das Flugzeug selbst ist ähnlich wie eine Intensivstation ausgestattet.
</div>
<div>Hinzu kommen die Kosten des Jets, Kerosin, Anästhesie und der Transport im Krankenwagen vom Zuhause zum Startflughafen und vom Zielflughafen in das Krankenhaus.
</div>

<div>Durch die hohe Inflation sind die Preise pro Strecke im Vergleich zum letzten Ambulanzflug zudem um mehrere Tausend Euro höher.

<div>Es ist nötig, dass Hanna für den Flug die professionelle Fluggesellschaft wie beim letzten Rückflug nimmt, weil diese hochprofessionell arbeitet, große Erfahrung im Transport von sehr instabilen Patienten mitbringt und Hanna dort sehr gut und medizinisch unbedenklich versorgt wurde.

<div>Im Gegensatz zu der zwar günstigeren Ambulanz des Hinfluges, mit der wir sehr schlechte Erfahrungen machen mussten. Wichtige Medikamente wurden dort vom Flugteam vergessen, Hanna wurde unsachgemäß ins Flugzeug umgebettet und vieles weiteres.

<div>WHAT EXACTLY IS DONE DURING SURGERY?

<div>Ambulance flights have such a significant price because they require a specially trained team consisting of an emergency medicician, a paramedic and two pilots. The flight requires extensive preparation for each individual case, and the team is in constant contact with a case manager on the ground. The aircraft itself is equipped much like an intensive care unit.

<div>In addition, there are the costs of the jet, kerosene, anesthesia and transportation in an ambulance from home to the departure airport and from the destination airport to the hospital.
