 The biggest school for the handicapped in the Sahrawi refugee camps, CASTRO, has been robbed and destroyed by a group of unknown individuals who stole their money and part of their medical supplies. "Castro" is the man who dedicates his life to a beautiful project that has been to fight with all adversities: physical, psychological, social, economic, even with the misunderstandings of his own society and that of the children themselves.

The Saharawi Refugee Camps are located in the south-west of Algeria, where about 200,000 people from WESTERN SAHARA: "Africa's last colony", have lived in exile for the past 45 years. This part of the Algerian territory is located in the middle of the Sahara desert, an inhospitable place crossed by two only seasons of the year: winter, where temperatures of 1 degree are frequent and summer, where thermometers frequently reach 50 degrees, which makes that life in this place is almost impossible. Another climatic element that makes survival in this area even more difficult are the sirocos, sand storms that paralyze any type of occupation. Trade does not generate enough to cover the basic needs of the population. Education receives very little funding and health services are weak. Most of the Sahrawi refugees need humanitarian aid to survive. The Saharawi Refugee Camps are organised in five wilayas:  Aiun, Dajla, Smara, Auserd and Dajla. SPA
