<div>Her friend and the Uber driver were both examined and released from the hospital that night. Carrie suffered a C5 spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the neck down. After extensive surgery, Carrie spent a month in ICU and could only communicate by blinking.

<div>After four months in the hospital, Carrie got off the ventilator, tracheotomy and feeding tube and was discharged to a rehab facility where she continues to receive medical care and physical therapy. We are grateful that she has regained some movement in her arms.

<div>My sister Jane (Carrie’s Mom &amp; the beneficiary of funds) hasn't left Carrie's side in over ten months. Along with Carrie’s dear friend Hannah and long-time family friend Michel, we are fundraising so that when Carrie is discharged to a home environment, she can continue to receive extensive physical therapy from facilities specializing in spinal cord injury. The more physical therapy, the better her odds of recovery.

<div>In addition, the funds will be used to help with out-of-pocket medical expenses, mobility devices, mounting special needs and 24/7 personal care.
