<div>Hi, I'm Ben - Kris's brother. I'm running this fundraiser for him because right now he can't do it himself.

<div>On 27 July , Kris was waiting at a bus stop in West Burleigh on the Gold Coast after finishing work for the day, when a bus making its turn hit the shelter. The old council bus stop collapsed on top of him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Paramedics did an incredible job at the scene and rushed him to Gold Coast University Hospital with crush injuries. He went straight into an 8-hour surgery, then spent four days in a coma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He's awake and back on his feet now, but the road back is long: four broken ribs, a fractured scapula, head injuries, and bruising over most of his body. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The biggest battle is his arms, his right arm was crushed and is being rebuilt by surgeons, and his left is in plaster with suspected fractures in multiple places. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With very limited use of both arms, even the simplest everyday tasks are a struggle, and it will be months if not a year before he can work again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Where the money goes</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We want to be upfront: there are workers' compensation and other processes underway relating to the incident, but these things move slowly and could take a long time to resolve. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In the meantime, life doesn't wait. Every dollar donated goes directly to Kris for:

<div>Out-of-pocket medical and surgical costs
</div>
<div>Rehabilitation and physio for both arms
</div>
<div>Help with daily living while he can't use his arms
</div>
<div>Rent, bills and everyday living costs while he has no income
