<div>Hi. My name is April, although some may know me as MediTate or Sunflower Scribe. Today, I'm writing across this computer screen to you not just as a writer or student, but as a young woman <strong>determined to reach her goal of graduating college</strong> — and learning that it’s okay to ask for help along the way.

<div>In the Fall of 2024 (Aug), I began my last academic year as a Sophomore at Long Beach City College (LBCC). I had chosen Sociology as my major and soon began crafting out what my path would be. I was juggling life as a full-time student, fiber arts creator, and working full time as a tutor.  Through that dedication, I raised my GPA from a 2.0 to a 2.75. I had started to find my stride — but then, life took an unexpected turn.

<div><em>During the end of November 2024, I was forced to leave my family home and became homeless</em>. This period of my life was surrounded by immense doubt, frustration, and lack of motivation within myself and my capability.
</div>

</div>
<div>Luckily, before I was couch-surfing for more than a few weeks, a close family friend was able to offer me a place to stay until a more permanent residence was available. Months later at the beginning of my last semester at LBCC, my campus offered me an apartment-style place to live while I completed school.
</div>

</div>
<div>Even while moving and navigating housing instability, I stayed focused. I applied to universities, kept up with schoolwork, and worked to make ends meet. And somehow, through all of it, I made it. <strong> </strong>I’m proud to share that I was accepted into <strong>Cal State Fullerton for Fall 2025</strong>, where I will be <em>majoring in Sociology</em> with a <em>concentration in Social Inequalities</em>, and <em>minoring in Comparative Literature</em>.

<div>Furthermore in June 2025, <strong>I graduated with my Associates of Arts for Transfer in Sociology on June 5, 2025!</strong> This moment was a testament to my determination, hard work, and resilience that I posess.

<div>A few things I've learned from the past year:

<li>Nothing will work for you<strong> unless you do. </strong>Progress doesn’t come easy — it comes from showing up, even on your worst days.
</li>
<li>Hard work <strong>ALWAYS </strong>pays off. As I reflect on the year, I realize that I made it through this year because I kept pushing forward, <strong>even when</strong> I had every reason to stop.
</li>
<li>It is ok to admit when you<strong> need support</strong>. As much as I took control of my circumstances, I also must acknowledge the support system that stood firm so that I could lean on them.
</li>
</ul>

<div>Now, I’m humbly asking for support as I begin this next chapter.
