<div>1.	Cover the cost for the development of a scientifically rigorous board exam that will meet the qualifications to be certified by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The development of this exam is already in progress! The cost of hiring a qualified psychometrician to create an evidence-based, scientifically sound board exam has precluded progress in this field for the last 30 years. The time to donate is NOW to bring this dream to reality!

<div>An increasing number of young physicians have recognized the need to provide evidence-based breastfeeding and lactation medical care for their patients, beyond the scope of counseling that is provided by non-physician lactation consultants.

<div>Until now, there have been no requirements for training and testing standards to practice Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. By establishing board certification, NABBLM will provide a pathway for specialty training, improve insurance coverage for breastfeeding and lactation care, and advocate for more widespread medical education and research in this important field.
