<div>ich wende mich mit einem Mix aus Angst, Hoffnung und Verzweiflung an euch. Es fällt mir sehr schwer, unsere Situation zu teilen, doch ich habe einen Punkt erreicht, an dem ich meinen Stolz beiseite legen muss, denn es bleibt uns keine andere Wahl.

<div><strong>Es geht um meinen besten Freund und Ehemann Gordon Scott, einen 46-jährigen Vater und ehemaligen prof. Basketballspieler, der nicht nur mein Herz hält, sondern auch die Herzen vieler Menschen erobert hat, die das Glück hatten, ihn im Laufe seines Lebens kennenzulernen. </strong>

<div>Als gebürtiger Amerikaner verbrachte er die letzten 20+ Jahre seines Lebens in Deutschland und verschiedenen anderen Ländern, spielte Basketball und verbreitete seinen unglaublichen Witz, Humor und seine Hilfsbereitschaft, wohin er auch ging.

<div>Diesen Sommer führte uns unsere Reise, nach 16 gemeinsamen Jahren und einem Jahr der räumlichen Trennung (er ging schon im Sommer 2022 zurück nach Amerika), in die Vereinigten Staaten, mit der Hoffnung, zusammen mit unserem 7-jährigen Sohn eine vielversprechende Zukunft aufzubauen. Doch das Schicksal hatte andere Pläne für uns.

<div>Schon bei unserer Ankunft hatte ich bemerkt, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Er sah "anders" aus und ich sah "ihn" nicht mehr in seinen Augen, wenn das Sinn macht.... Er hatte an Weihnachten letzten Jahres Corona, aber danach laut ihm keine gesundheitlichen Probleme. Außer geschwollene Beine während Corona, was ich aber erst jetzt mitbekommen habe.

<div>Im Laufe der folgenden Wochen begann sich sein Gesundheitszustand deutlich zu verschlechtern. Er hatte stark geschwollene Beine, Hände, Füße und eines Tages auf einmal ein extrem geschwollenes Auge. Trotz seines Leidens arbeitete er weiterhin jeden Tag. Er meinte, das geht bestimmt wieder weg und er müsste arbeiten. Aber dann konnte er einfach nicht mehr.

<div>Mehrere Tage war er dann Zuhause, weil er nichts mehr bei sich behalten konnte und aufgrund der Schmerzen in seinen extrem geschwollenen Beinen, musste ich ihm dann helfen, ins Badezimmer zu kommen. Es war genau dieser Zustand der Verzweiflung, der ihn schließlich dazu brachte, vor knapp zwei Wochen, endlich auf mein Bitten zu hören und ärztliche Hilfe in Anspruch zu nehmen.

<div>Im Krankenhaus erwartete ihn dann eine herzzerreißende Diagnose. Herz- und Nierenversagen, wobei seine Nierenfunktion auf erschütternde 2% gesunken ist, sowie Wasser in der Lunge und im Herzen. Die direkte Ursache war unklar, und die Ärzte haben eine Nierenbiopsie durchgeführt, die eine Blutvergiftung und eine Autoimmunerkrankung enthüllte.

<div>Diese Diagnose hat zu einem anstrengenden Behandlungsplan geführt, einschließlich Dialyse, Chemotherapie und anderen Therapien, die seinen Körper extrem belasten.
</div>
<div>Aktuell wissen wir nicht, wie die Diagnose für die Zukunft aussieht, aber es sieht ganz danach aus, als ob er für immer an der Dialyse sein muss und vielleicht sogar auf eine Nierentransplantation angewiesen sein wird.
</div>

<div>Trotz dieser Herausforderungen bleibt mein Mann positiv und ist voller Dankbarkeit, dass er noch am Leben ist. Laut den Ärzten wäre er das 2-3 Tage später nicht mehr gewesen.
</div>
<div>Ich bin so unsagbar stolz auf ihn, wie stark er ist und wie er kämpft, aber es bricht mir das Herz, nicht zu wissen, wie es weitergeht.
</div>

<div>Die finanzielle Situation ist außerordentlich schwierig, mit steigenden Arztrechnungen und anderen Ausgaben. Dazu kommt, dass ich hier nicht arbeiten darf, bis ich meine Greencard habe und wir haben absolut keine Ahnung, wie lange das noch dauern wird. Wir benötigen ein Auto, da sein Auto schon vor Monaten den Geist aufgegeben hat, obwohl er es noch abbezahlen muss, Grundkosten des Lebens, Krankenversicherung und andere wesentliche Unterstützung, um diese schwierige Reise zu bewältigen.

<div>Wir sind aktuell im Haus seiner Mama untergekommen, die leider auch krank ist und sind darauf angewiesen, dass mich sein Onkel ab und zu irgendwo hinfährt, wenn er Zeit hat, um wichtige Dinge zu erledigen.
</div>

</div>
<div>Ich hoffe von ganzem Herzen, dass mein Mann sich mit eurer Hilfe bald zu 100% auf seine Genesung konzentrieren kann.
</div>

<div>I reach out to you with a mixture of fear, hope, and utter despair. It's challenging to share our situation, but I've come to a point where I must set aside my pride because we have no other choice.

<div><strong>This concerns my best friend and husband, Gordon Scott, a 46-year-old father and former professional basketball player. He holds not only my heart but also the hearts of many who have had the privilege of knowing him throughout his life.</strong>

<div>As an American, he spent the last 20+ years of his life in Germany and various other countries, playing basketball and spreading his incredible humor, wit, and kindness wherever he went.
</div>

<div>This summer, our journey led us to the United States with hopes of building a promising future together with our 7-year-old son. This comes after spending 16 years together and enduring a whole year of separation (he left Germany in summer 2022). However, fate had different plans for us.
</div>

</div>
<div>Upon our arrival, I noticed something was amiss. He looked "different," and I couldn't see the same spark in his eyes.
</div>
<div>He had COVID-19 last Christmas, but according to him, had no health issues afterward, except for swollen legs during the illness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the following weeks, his health deteriorated significantly. He experienced severe swelling in his legs, hands, feet, and one day, his eye swelled dramatically.
</div>
<div>Despite his suffering, he continued working every day, believing it would go away, and he had to work. But then, he couldn't continue.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He spent several days at home because he couldn't keep anything down, and due to the pain in his extremely swollen legs, I had to help him get to the bathroom. It was this state of despair that finally convinced him to heed my plea and seek medical help nearly two weeks ago.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the hospital, he received a heart-wrenching diagnosis: heart and kidney failure, with his kidney function plummeting to a devastating 2%.
</div>
<div>There was also water in his lungs and heart. The direct cause was unclear, but a kidney biopsy revealed blood poisoning and an autoimmune disease.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This diagnosis led to an arduous treatment plan, including dialysis, chemotherapy, and other therapies that severely strain his body.
</div>
<div>We currently don't know what the future holds, but it seems likely he will require dialysis indefinitely, and possibly even a kidney transplant.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite these challenges, my husband remains positive and hopeful, full of gratitude for still being alive. According to the doctors, he would not have survived another 2-3 days without treatment.
</div>
<div>I am incredibly proud of him, how strong he is and how he fights, but it breaks my heart not to know how things will go on.
</div>

</div>
<div>Our financial situation is incredibly difficult due to rising medical bills and other expenses. I can't work here until I obtain my Green Card, and we have no idea how long that will take. We need a car since his broke down months ago, leaving us without essential transportation. This, in addition to basic living costs, health insurance, and other critical support to navigate this challenging journey.
</div>

<div>We are currently staying with his mom, who is also ill, and rely on occasional assistance from his uncle for essential errands.
</div>

<div>I wholeheartedly hope that with your help, my husband can fully focus on his recovery without the immense financial burdens.
