<div>La <strong>mandíbula</strong> de Karla está siendo atacada y <strong>desintegrada</strong> por una <strong>bacteria</strong>. Esta bacteria es muy agresiva y en poco tiempo le ha destruido el cuerpo mandibular. Esto le ha provocado fuertes <strong>dolores crónicos</strong>, pérdida de piezas dentales así como la <strong>incapacidad</strong> de <strong>alimentarse</strong> adecuadamente.

<div>Mi mamá necesita urgentemente una serie de <strong>estudios</strong> (entre ellos un gammagrama óseo y biopsia) y <strong>medicamentos</strong> que la preparen para su primer <strong>cirugía</strong>. La intención de esta primer <strong>cirugía</strong> es cortar y retirar (<strong>remoción</strong>) la parte de la mandíbula que está <strong>necrosada</strong> y adaptar una <strong>placa provisional</strong> que sustituya el área. El principal fin de esta cirugía es <strong>detener la propagación</strong> de la <strong>bacteria</strong> a hueso sano tanto en la mandíbula como en otras partes del cuerpo.

<div>Posteriormente, mi mamá tomará una serie de medicamentos para su tratamiento y recuperación postquirúrgica.

<div>Alrededor de 6 a 8 meses más tarde se someterá a la segunda cirugía donde se va a <strong>reemplazar</strong> la prótesis provisional con una prótesis de reconstrucción <strong>100% personalizada</strong> de acuerdo a su necesidad anatómica y fisiológica. Tan sólo esta prótesis tiene un valor aproximado de <strong>$12,000 USD</strong>.
