<div><strong>Aurora County</strong> made history in November 2025 as the <strong>FIRST county in South Dakota</strong> to officially proclaim <strong>October as First Responders Appreciation Month</strong>.

<div>Now we're launching South Dakota Safety Days : October 9th &amp; 10th, 2026  to celebrate and support the brave first responders who protect our rural community every day.

<div>On <strong>January 21st, 2026, Governor Larry Rhoden signed a statewide proclamation designating October 2026 as First Responders Appreciation Month</strong> for the entire State of South Dakota, crediting Aurora County's leadership.

<div>96% of South Dakota firefighters are volunteers - the highest rate in the nation
</div>
<div>Rural first responders often lack funding for essential equipment and training
</div>
<div><strong>Aurora County's historic proclamation inspired all 66 South Dakota </strong>counties to follow.  Your support helps keep that movement going

<div>South Dakota Safety Days brings our community together for safety demonstrations, educational programs, family activities, and fundraising to support our local fire departments, sheriff's office, and EMS services.
