<div>Colombia is facing a devastating moment. The magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck western Colombia left people injured, families displaced, and entire communities in urgent need of help.

<div>My name is Maria Paula Ibáñez. Together with the Colombian community in Halifax and the "Aquí Suena Colombia" team, we're organizing a Colombian cultural event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, supported by Raíces Latinas, an initiative of Latispánica Cultural Association (a non-profit organization). As Colombians living in Canada, we felt the need to respond.

<div><strong>We have no formal affiliation with the Colombian Red Cross or Cívicos Colombia. We're raising these funds independently as a community and will transfer 100% of what's raised to their official accounts, no cash is handled directly by us.</strong>

<div>Both organizations have been on the ground since the first days of the emergency: the Colombian Red Cross with search and rescue teams, K9 units, and medical personnel across Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Caldas, Risaralda, and Quindío; and Cívicos Colombia, a nonprofit of volunteer doctors, lawyers, and other professionals, currently supporting recovery efforts in Cali. Together, they're providing food, clean water, medical care, psychosocial support, emergency kits, and family reunification services.

<div><strong>Funds will be used exclusively to finance this humanitarian work, and we'll share receipts and transfer confirmation once completed.</strong>

<div><strong>This effort is connected to "Aquí Suena Colombia," originally planned for August 23rd but now postponed to August 29th, 1–5 PM, at DeWolf Park, Bedford, NS, due to weather conditions — an afternoon of music, dance, and tradition. You don't need to attend to help: $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can give makes a real difference.</strong>

<div>Ambas organizaciones han estado en terreno desde los primeros días de la emergencia: la Cruz Roja Colombiana con equipos de búsqueda y rescate, unidades caninas y personal médico en Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Caldas, Risaralda y Quindío; y Cívicos Colombia, una organización sin ánimo de lucro de médicos, abogados y otros profesionales voluntarios, apoyando actualmente la recuperación en Cali. Juntas, están brindando alimentos, agua potable, atención médica, apoyo psicosocial, kits de emergencia y servicios de reunificación familiar.
