<div>After 20 years of serving NYC’s performing arts and photography communities, <strong>Alchemical Studios</strong> was forced to close in August 2023.

<div>•	<strong>Re-open our beloved and affordable rehearsal, photography and performance spaces</strong>, which will require securing <strong>a new lease at a new location. </strong>

<div>•	<strong>Launch a new Experimental Theatre School,</strong> focused on physical acting research
</div>

<div><strong>Why We Closed</strong>
</div>
<div>During Covid times, we closed and opened to the rhythm of changing rules for businesses with public assembly such as ours.
</div>
<div>Just when we got the go-ahead to fully open again, our landlord announced the sale of his building and we had to find a new location. But just as we completed renovations on our new space on W 17th:
</div>
<div>•	The building began major elevator work and other major construction in the building, disrupting our operations;
</div>
<div>•	Our rent had significantly increased;
</div>
<div>•	And the post-COVID economy didn’t return as expected
</div>
<div>We simply couldn’t sustain the costs and had to shut our doors.
</div>
