<div>The government has declared a State of Calamity and mobilized all civil protection services to respond and support the population.

<div>The shock is overwhelming, but even greater has been the solidarity of the people.

<div>In record time, local initiatives have emerged to raise funds, collect essential goods and food supplies.
</div>

<div>As for me? I can’t just stand by.

<div>I will help in whatever way I can, because I truly believe that a little is always better than nothing.

<div>Um apelo, não só ao povo cabo-verdiano, mas a todos com um mínimo de compaixão pelo que se está a viver neste momento em Cabo Verde.

<div>É assim que o povo de São Vicente tem vivido nos últimos dias, após uma forte tempestade que devastou a ilha por completo. Houve desabamentos de terra, correntes de água que arrastaram tudo à sua frente — casas, carros, pessoas, animais... Uma autêntica catástrofe.

<div>O Governo declarou Estado de Calamidade e mobilizou todos os serviços de proteção civil para intervirem e apoiarem a população.

<div>O choque é grande, mas maior ainda tem sido a solidariedade do povo. Em tempo recorde, surgiram iniciativas locais para angariação de fundos, bens essenciais e alimentos.
