<div>Adam is Ms. Gilmer’s oldest son. He’s just 28 years old and has been battling heart failure since age 21,  after a virus severely damaged his heart. For years, he managed with medication, but in June, things took a turn for the worse.

<div>He was rushed to the ER, where doctors confirmed he was in complete heart failure. He was transferred to Emory Hospital, where the situation became even more critical.

<div>After arriving, he suffered a heart attack and stroke caused by a severe allergic reaction to a blood thinner. On top of that, doctors discovered a dangerous farm-related virus in his system.

<div>Right now, Adam is in rehab, working hard every day. 
</div>
<div>The goal is to regain enough strength to be placed on the heart transplant list. He will need a new heart to survive.
