<div>Next on our list to help Emily keep up with her peers — and to make her day-to-day life that bit more comfortable — is a lightweight, custom wheelchair. Sadly, the NHS is overwhelmed with requests, and while they do their best, we’re still waiting. Emily came out of her leg casts over a month ago, yet she’s still using a chair designed to accommodate those very casts — meaning she can’t even sit in a normal position.

<div>Right now, she’s wheeling herself around in a chair that weighs more than double her body weight — and that’s before she’s even in it! At nearly 5 years old, Emily weighs just 10kg and is about the size of an average 18-month-old. She uses so much energy just to get herself moving that she finds it hard to gain weight, and often ends up exhausted.

<div>The type of chair she needs is about 8kg, lightweight, pink (of course ), and built to be quick and agile. In other words, built for Emily — so she can whizz around like every other child her age. So she can play, laugh, and move without relying on someone to push her.

<div>We’ve looked into charities, but many are only for children not eligible for NHS chairs — even if the ones provided aren’t fit for purpose — and many have closed their books due to overwhelming demand.

<div>The chair will cost between £4,000–£5,000, depending on final fittings. It’s a huge amount — but whatever Emily needs, we’ll find a way. Because she deserves nothing less than the world.
