<div><strong>This Christmas, I’m going back to Venezuela to give 400 children a new pair of shoes, a Christmas outfit and a present.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In June, two earthquakes hit Venezuela. La Guaira, on the coast beside Caracas, took the worst of it. Families lost their homes and their loved ones, and many children are still going to school in tents.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What you did in October
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In October, you gave €6,897. I bought everything myself and handed it over myself, directly to each child and each family in Playa Verde and La Guaira. This is what your money bought:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>School packs for over 220 children (school bag, pencil case, pencils, sharpener, rubber, glue, three notebooks and colours, plus a lunch box and water bottle for the younger ones and a long-lasting water bottle for the older ones)
</div>
<div>Over 1,000 bottles of water
</div>
<div>1,000 snacks
</div>
<div>12 fans
</div>
<div>24 rechargeable lights
</div>
<div>Extension leads
</div>
<div>60 footballs
</div>
<div>Sports gear and art supplies
</div>
<div>Around 30 reams of paper
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After GoFundMe’s fees, €5,661.13 was spent and €1,015.31 was left over, because some donations came in after everything had been bought and handed out. That €1,015.31 goes straight into Christmas for the children.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Why Christmas
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In one of the tent schools, I met Andrea, a young girl who lost her father and her home. Many of these children have lost family, their home, or both. This Christmas will be a hard one for them. I want each of them to have something new to wear, new shoes, and a present to open.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What we’re buying this Christmas
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Each child gets:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A good pair of shoes (good shoes are now hard to find there)
</div>
<div>A Christmas outfit
</div>
<div>A Christmas present
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>That costs about €50 per child. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We’re raising enough for 400 children</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The €1,015.31 from October already goes towards it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As before, I’ll buy everything myself in Venezuela and hand it over in person directly to each child. I’ll post an update here with photos and a full breakdown of what was spent.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Donations close on 21st December.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Most of you who gave in October are friends and family from Cork. Thank you. If you can give again, or share this page, it means another child gets something on Christmas morning.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The kids have to come first. They’re the future.

<div>VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Lo que hicisteis en octubre
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>En octubre donasteis 6.897 €.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div>Más de 1.000 botellas de agua
</div>
<div>1.000 meriendas
</div>
<div>12 ventiladores
</div>
<div>24 lámparas recargables
</div>
<div>Alargadores
</div>
<div>60 balones de fútbol
</div>
<div>Material deportivo y de manualidades
</div>
<div>Unos 30 paquetes de folios
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Por qué en Navidad
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Cada niño recibirá:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div>Un conjunto de ropa navideña
</div>
<div>Un regalo de Navidad
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Las donaciones cierran el 21 de diciembre.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
