<div>I am a full-time caregiver, Power of Attorney, and advocate for my father, who became quadriplegic after suffering multiple strokes caused by COVID-19 in December 2020.

<div>At the time, he was a healthy 49-year-old man with no pre-existing health conditions, no medications, and no prior hospitalizations. Within days of his COVID diagnosis, he was placed in a medically induced coma, ventilated, and written off as unlikely to ever regain consciousness.

<div>But today, he’s alert.

<div>He eats a regular diet.
</div>
<div>He breathes on his own.
</div>

<div>Due to a lack of private health insurance and his status as a convicted felon with no recent work history, my father has spent the last 3+ years in public, low-rated facilities. As a result, he has suffered:

</li>
<li>Muscle contractures due to prolonged neglect
</li>
<li>Ongoing challenges with mobility and rehabilitation access

<div>He has not been awarded Social Security or Disability benefits, and Medicaid-funded options have failed to provide consistent or dignified care.
