<div>I’m reaching out today to ask for support for my dear friend Misty, who is going through one of the most challenging times of her life.

<div>Misty has always been a strong ass woman, and the kind of person who shows up for others no matter what she’s facing. She’s generous, empathetic, and fiercely resilient. But over the past few years, her health has taken a dramatic turn. She is now living with multiple chronic illnesses and constant, often debilitating pain. Despite her strength and resilience, her body has been through more than anyone should ever have to endure.

<div>Misty lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a complex and progressive genetic disorder that affects every system in the body. It can cause joint dislocations, nerve damage, organ complications, and severe chronic pain. She is now legally handicapped and needs a mobility aid to get through daily life.

<div>Even though her neurologist and rheumatologist both agree she is fully disabled, Misty and her lawyer have been fighting for two years now to get her disability benefits approved. And even when they eventually (hopefully) are, she’ll still have to wait 24 more months for Medicaid to kick in, an unimaginable gap in care and coverage.

<div>In the meantime, she has no income and is drowning in medical costs:

<div>She is undergoing her third surgery on 7/22/25, and it’s possible it won’t be her last. On top of everything, we’re now waiting to find out whether she has vascular Ehlers-Danlos, the rarest and most dangerous form of the condition which can be fatal.

<div>Despite everything, Misty continues to fight. But she shouldn’t have to do it alone. She has been fighting so hard just to get through each day, and financial strain should not be another burden she has to carry.
