<div>Hi I’m Melissa, Matthew’s older sister, and I’m writing this on behalf of my family.

<div>On Monday, December 2nd, my brother fell from the second floor of an apartment building. He was rushed to the hospital where we were informed he had internal bleeding in his skull. Matthew sustained a concussion,a skull fracture and internal bleeding. We hoped and prayed the bleeding would resolve on its own, but after countless CT scans and MRIs, my parents made the difficult decision for Matthew to undergo a craniotomy. This surgery was necessary to stop the bleeding and relieve the pressure from his brain.

<div>Matthew was rushed to surgery Wednesday afternoon and has been in the hospital since.

<div>Matthew is only 16 years old and was just made captain of the Eagle Rock JV basketball team. If you know Matthew, you know what basketball means to him. Our hearts are broken knowing he will miss out on his basketball season as his recovery will take months.
</div>
<div>This unforeseen event has shaken my family, but we are grateful to God for giving Matthew the chance to heal and recover with all of us by his side. We are immensely moved by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from everyone given during this challenging time-it has not gone unnoticed.
