<div>Not everyone knows who I am or how I’m connected to Maria, so I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Mellissa Balboa, and I’m married to Nicolas Martinez Jr. His grandmother is Maria “Grandma Lupe” Martinez.

<div>Many of you may also know my father-in-law, Nick Martinez, for his outstanding community service. He is the Jazz Fest President here in Corpus Christi, Texas. Maria Martinez is his mother, and she is the one who has tragically lost her home and everything inside.

<div>On November 11, 2025, tragedy struck when a neighbor’s garage caught on fire and spread to my husband’s (Nick Martinez jr) grandma’s home at Corpus Christi, TX. The fire quickly damaged the entire back half of her house, destroying nearly everything she owned.

</div>
<div>She has lived in this home for over 50 years, raising her family there and creating countless memories. Sadly, she did not have home insurance, and neither did the neighbors.
</div>

</div>
<div>Because of the severe fire, smoke, and water damage, her home is no longer livable. She lost most of her personal belongings, and the structure itself needs major repairs before she can safely return.
</div>

</div>
<div>With the holidays approaching, our hearts are heavy knowing she lost so much, but we are beyond thankful she made it out safely. We are now trying to raise funds to help her clean up the damage, recover essentials, and start rebuilding her home.
