This has been an extremely rough month, all of which I have attempted to handle to the best of my ability but this most recent situation is not only shocking but appalling, unpredictable and unacceptable.

Let me start from the beginning though.

At the start of this month, I went to pay my rent but my landlord wasn't in his office. Recently, my coworkers cars had been getting broken into so I wasn't comfortable leaving the $730 cash in the car. Somehow, during my shift...someone stole the money from me.

I didn't ask for help then even though I had borrowed my $400 dollar portion of the rent from my roommate for the weekend. At this point, I owed my roommate $400 and my landlord $730. I didn't ask anyone for help.

A week later my dog had a medical emergency and required medical care. I had no choice but to ask my father for a $200 loan.

Most recently and honestly, most importantly....I had a situation at work.

After 8 years in one restaurant, I took a new job 3 months ago at a finer establishment. From my first week, there was a woman who made absolutely inappropriate comments.

The first one is hard for me to recall but the gist of it was a joke about people from the Philippines piling out of one car. Sort of like clowns or something. Weird and racist but...it was my first week.

The second time was when a table was sat and the guests were of Muslim descent, complete with covered heads and all. They were gorgeous. This server said, "I will not take them. I don't take Muslim tables. It's just a thing I have." At this point, I informed my managers and she received a warning.

The third time was when we were walking near each other and between two Asian guests. She proceeded to imitate and mock them in highly offensive and stereotypical manner. I informed my managers of this. She received another warning.

On Sunday, she was speaking to another black coworker of mine about a youtube video. I barely overheard the conversation but heard her say, "Then they said an offensive word....It started with an N and ended with Aggot." I turned and looked at her quizzically. She said....."They said NIGGER F*****." I was visibly shocked. The conversation continued and she said the two words combined again. At that point, I told her not to repeat it. My management was informed and she received yet another warning. I told my managers that this was unacceptable. They responded by letting me know that if I was uncomfortable, I COULD LEAVE. They told me to call HR on my own if I had a problem.

So I did.

Today, several of my coworkers told me that the offending employee was telling people that management said that were on her side, that they had her back.

I went in to cash out for the evening and was told that my services were no longer required. When confronted about this, they told me that I had been a detriment to the company but could give no further explanation.

This explanation is ludicrous. I have worked there for three months without a single customer complaint and perhaps 2 or 3 misrings. I have won almost every single contest since my hire date and was on track to be promoted to bartender and certified trainer.

This is retaliation, pure and simple....something that is against the law.

I already have another job offer but as a server, I'm used to cash in hand every night. Since having my borrowed rent stolen, I'm already $200 behind from last month. My new job can't start me until the beginning of August so that's two weeks without cash plus another two weeks for their training process.

I have never even thought about asking for help before but I'm absolutely at a loss. I'm sure it's a lot to ask for strangers and coworkers and acquaintances and friends and family to pay my rent so I won't mind not making my goal but if anyone could help me eat for the next 30 days, I would appreciate it more than I could ever express.

If you are interested in contacting the business, it is Landry's Seafood House in St. Louis, MO. The managers first names are Krista, Adam, Shannon, and Brooke. The server/bartender/certified trainer is named Tina. Their phone number is 1-314-231-4040 and the corporate number is 1-800-552-6379.

Thank you to everyone for your support.
