BlueOps Robotics World Championship

We qualified for the World Championships which are being held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri April 27-30th and we are asking for your help in covering some of our registration, travel, and activity expenses.

Blue Ops was started to inspire kids in our local community to be the science and technology leaders of tomorrow. With the help of many volunteer mentors FIRST robotics is a sport for the mind where every kid has a chance to go pro.

This is our 5th year as a team representing East Jackson High School. Our first 2 years we never made it past the bottom 23% of teams in the state but our last 3 years have shown great improvement. We made it to the state championship last year which was a great accomplishment for our team.

In the past we have done a variety of different things to raise money for our team. We have made presentations to corporations telling them about our mission. We have parked cars at college football games. We have sold LED light bulbs and applied for various grants. Although the LED light bulb program ended last summer we thought we would be all set for this year after receiving a State of Michigan grant that would cover our registration to the State Championship and World Championships if we were so lucky to qualify. We got the grant but a little over a month ago we received a letter that said that the grant was so successful that it ran out of money.

We were caught a little off guard financially as a team when all of sudden we made State and World Championships. Going to the World Championship will be a once in a lifetime event for many of our team members. There will be teams there from literally all over the world. Our school and boosters have been generous to us but this an expensive endeavor and we are asking for your help to cover some of our expenses for registration, travel , and activities in St. Louis. Your support would mean a lot to the students and our team. Thank you.
