K. a young Black trans woman, is currently living in temporary accommodation after the traumatic experience of being street homeless for multiple years. She has not been able to work due to COVID, and very recently had her PIP application rejected.
The money raised is intended to support the basics of K's survival whilst we try appeal her PIP decision, and support her to get other needed benefits. Her rent is covered by housing benefit, and she gets a small monthly amount from her local council which barely covers her bills.
K. remains vulnerable in her current situation. The accommodation she lives in is shared with multiple people, and the landlord has entered her room without permission multiple times. She lives with complex mental health issues including severe anxiety and depression, and the day-to-day struggle for any financial certainty is taking a continuous toll. This has also prevented her from seeking the financial and mental health support she needs.
Relying on only occasional financial support to survive makes K.'s life only more unstable and difficult. I hope this fund can give her a foundation of financial stability to support her healing.
