My neighbor, Maureen, died suddenly this week of a massive heart attack. She was only 54 years old. What a terrible tragedy to die so young!
We have been neighbors and friends for 20+ years and felt the need to set up a fund to help the family get through this very difficult time in their lives.
The family believes Maureen's death was brought on by the stress of juggling work and everyday chores, as well as the family's finances. Maureen was in charge of the bills and was trying to keep afloat financially but became overwhelmed as a result of the recent recession. She carried the stress of this financial situation alone, never alerting her husband Lou or any other family members. We all know that Maureen was only trying to keep this situation to herself, knowing that her husband has health issues and did not want to cause him more stress.
I know that there are many friends of Lou and Maureen out there as I saw them all in a never ending line at Maureen's wake and funeral. I ask only that you contribute whatever you can afford even if it's just a few dollars. We want to make sure that Lou and the boys can stay in their home and not have to go through the heartache of losing everything. They should be mourning their loss, not worrying about losing their home.
