This effort is being organized by Elisa Grassi, Bob & Evie Sweeney, Kris LaCroix, and others.
Our dear friend and one of the Arabian breed’s most treasured historians, Jeff Wallace, is in need of the support of the community he has given so much to over the years.
For the past couple of years, Jeff has been quietly facing increasingly serious health challenges. In early February, he was admitted to a hospital in Phoenix after experiencing severe breathing difficulties. Doctors discovered a significant lung condition that is affecting his ability to breathe, along with additional concerns involving his liver and kidneys.
Jeff has now transitioned to a hospice group home in North Phoenix, where he is receiving care and support with his daily needs — including medication management, meals, and around-the-clock assistance.
Despite these difficult circumstances, Jeff remains very much himself. As Murilo Kammer shared after visiting him, “He’s short of breath — but not short on brains.” On his good days, Jeff’s spirit is bright, his humor intact, and his remarkable mind still capable of reciting the pedigree of nearly any Arabian horse in history.
To help ease the financial burden of his medical care and daily support, we are organizing this GoFundMe on Jeff’s behalf. Contributions of any size will help ensure that he can continue to receive the care he needs while living as comfortably as possible.
Perhaps just as meaningful would be a call, a message, a note, or a visit. This transition — from a life of independence to one that now requires assistance — is a profound one. Hearing from friends and fellow horse lovers would mean the world to him.
Jeff has spent a lifetime preserving the history and stories of the Arabian horse. Now it is our turn, as a community, to come together and care for one of our own.
(We are also organizing a group that would like to do small monthly donations. If you'd like to be a part of that, please email [email redacted].)
