Canadian Heritage Needs Your Support
The Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation is an archive containing over 150,000 heritage images. Our offices are located in central Mississauga, at 2227 South Millway, Suite 200.
As a registered national non-profit organization, the principal goal of CHPF is to collect, preserve, digitize and make the archive available to students, researchers, photographers, and the community. To date, we have digitized over 17,500 images and made them freely available to the public on our Digital Collection’s website https://digitalcollections.thechpf.com/
Over the years, CHPF has received prestigious grants from Library and Archives Canada, Canadian Heritage, the Canadian Council of Archives as well as provincial and municipal institutions, allowing the Foundation to digitize, preserve and freely disseminate these important photographs.
However, the last few years have been tough for us financially. Reduced government funding, declining donations, and the inability to hold usual fundraisers due to Covid restrictions - have pushed the Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation to the brink. While our volunteers and staff work hard each year to preserve and grow the collection, due to these exterior factors, we aren’t sure how much longer we can maintain the archive.
With a goal to raise $20,000, we are reaching out to the community to support this important part of Canada’s heritage.
Please donate and share the link with your friends, family, and colleagues, and help us preserve heritage photographs for future generations.
