Hello. My name is Matthew, and my father is currently in the Intensive Care unit in Anderson Hospital. He has two collapsed lungs.
We started noticing problems two days ago, when he began complaining of shortness of breath. This came to a head last night (10/16) around midnight, when he tried to lay down. He became completely incapable of drawing a breath, and his skin was ice cold to the touch. We rushed him to the local ER, where he was diagnosed and a pair of tubes inserted between his ribs to alleviate some of the pressure on his lungs. He was sent from there to Anderson, where he is currently in ICU.
He is surrounded by family members, but not a one of us is in a position financially to be able to stay out there, let alone cover the costs of this stay (which no one has even estimated to us, yet). I hate to ask for help, especially when I am unable to offer it in return so often, but I'm at my wits' end. This is my father I'm talking about. He's occasionally an ass, but he's my dad, and I love him, and ... I'm sorry. I can't go on, right now.
