Our dad, David Burns, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2015. Lori and I decided to start this memorial fund for our mother, Debbie Burns, because we want to do everything possible to help. The money raised will go to help pay for funeral, medical, and living expenses.
In 1983 mom and dad moved our family to Conroe, TX where we have been longtime residents. My father was a traveling piping designer and my mother is a school librarian in Conroe Independent School District. They have both been in their respective professions for 20+ years.
10 years ago our father was diagnosed with prostate cancer but was fortunate enough to win that battle. He had been in the clear until earlier this year when he stared experiencing pain in his back and neck. Once the doctors were finally able to diagnose the cause, we discovered that his prostate cancer had metastasized up his spine. With a diagnosis he was able to begin radiation treatment. He had just finished his second round of treatments on Friday, November 13th. During the course of his treatment things were looking positive as his pain was beginning to subside. On Saturday afternoon he was taken to the hospital where we were told that he had suffered a major heart attack. Later that evening our father passed away.
With the decline in the oil and gas industry our father had been out of work since February. Once his health started to decline we knew that being able to return to work might not be an option. Knowing what lies ahead for our mom we are reaching out to those who know our family in this time of need.
We thank each and every one of you that have called, posted on Facebook, brought/sent food, or come by to visit. Each and every word and memory shared of our dad have been very special.
