Bello Spinal Surgery & Post-Op Bleeding

Donation protected
Ten Years ago I went to a Pet Store with my friend who wanted to buy a Turtle for her son...and I walked out with an 8 month old Japanese Chin, that I named Bello-Mento (in Italian it means Handsome Chin). Being a Puppy Mill Survivor, Bello had been kept in a 2 foot square cage his entire Puppyhood, until I found him. Soon after taking him home, my Vet and I realized that he had Hemohplia A, a deficiency in the secondary clotting factor, to which there is NO preventative. Hemophilia A is HEREDITARY, and it is a SHAME that Puppy Mills TOTALLY Disregard the Fact that they are PRODUCING Hundreds of Babies with this Deadly Disorder, as it is DEADLY for the Boys, while the Girls carry the deadly gene and Pass it to their Babies. I shudder to think how many of Bello's Boy Relative never made it Past One yer of Age. so with the Hemophilia A,  My vet recommended that he NEVER be active, NEVER play with other dogs and be kept on a leash for his whole life. But how could I deny him all that life and I could offer him? We have had our share of Bleeding Episodes, from Bleeding Dewclaws, Hemorrhaging from his Neuter Surgery, Bleeding from Fixing his Stenotic Nares, FootBall-sized Hematomas from Bumping into things, and Each Time required a Daily Vist to the Hospital to put him under Anesthesia to Control the Bleeding. We have incurred costly Veterinary Bills with Bello, but he is So WORTH every CENT! He even required a Blood Transfusion, followed by a Whole Blood the next day, at 1 year of age, and and he almost died because I was working a 16-Hour Day while he was Bleeding at  Home. For 10 years, my Bello remained Healthy and has had No Major problems, but has had Numerous Minor Hemorrhages - but he STILL enjoyed Life to the Fullest, as together we both DEFIED THE ODDS. But my Precious Bello became Hind-End Paralyzed a few days ago. and I feared that surgery could be fatal, as he could react negatively to the necessary blood transusions. Being on a fixed income, I managed to scrape together a $1,000 deposit to go ahead with the spinal surgery that he required, because I want him to walk again. Bello made it through the surgery, but he required an extensive effort to keep him alive and well. He will stay in the hospital for a few days, but I am desparate to raise enough money to pay his vet bill in order to take him home.

BELLO UPDATE: Bello made it through the Surgery without Complications. He has Vibrant Motor in his Hind Legs, and Walks well with a Sling. He finished all of his medications and is getting stronger every day.

HOWEVER, 14 Post-Op, On Friday morning, April 18th, he had Hemorrhagic Diarrhea and became Pale, and started Coughing up Phlegm. I RUSHED him into the Emergency Room, and he was placed in the Oxygen Cage. Bello's HCT was 24, and which indicated that he was actively bleeding. The Oxygen Cage helped Bello Breathe Better, and Chest Radiogrpahs were taken - but the Findings were Insignificant. Bello stayed in the hospital overnight and was given Plasma to stop the Bleeding.

I received a call from the doctor early this morning (Saturday April 19th at 7:30 am), and Bello is MUCH WORSE. His HCT is now 14, and the doctor has to give him Whole Blood.

Without ENOUGH FUNDS, I can NOT do any further Work-Up including Abdominal Radiographs, let alone and Exploratory Surgery if he needs it.

I am Desparate to Help my Bello, and I NEED your Help. Please Help me Save Bello. XOXO
