Sunday afternoon, Aug. 2  a large gust of wind blew through the park, which caused part of a tree to fall on the fans and children sitting on the aluminum bleachers near the park’s treeline.

Five people were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment, according to a release from the Elkhart Police Department. Yanari and Yaretzi were then transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health for head injuries, Yaretzi is fighting for her life.

Sisters Yaretzi Jiménez, 9 months old, and Yanari Espinosa, 9, are currently hospitalized in Indianapolis for skull fractures and other traumatic head injuries. As of 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, Yaretzi was listed in critical condition at Riley, and Yanari was listed in fair and stable condition.

Please consider donating to help the family through this tough time.  Every donation is deeply appreciated.
