We are Friends of Byron, a committee organized to help Byron Stuart, the owner of Byron’s Bar – “The hipness center of the universe,” as musician Bruce Katz (Allman Brothers Band) puts it. Byron’s, in Pomeroy, Iowa, population 500, provides a magical and loving environment where musicians from all over the world come to perform for an enthusiastic, attentive audience.

When this fundraiser was begun we needed to find a new location to replace the old building Byron’s where Byron’s was located. Using the money raised so far, we have accomplished this goal. Byron’s has been relocated and is open for business at 111 South Ontario Street in Pomeroy, IA.

But our work is not done. We have spent the money raised so far to buy the building and move the bar into it. Now, we need to finish the job. A new walk-in cooler has been built and installed, a green room for the musical artists needs to be added on to the building. The sign needs to be constructed and mounted at the front of the building. These needs are not yet funded.
