William “Andy” Powell Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tonya Powell, middle daughter of Andy Powell.

William "Andy" Powell, age 82, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather & great-grandfather, passed away Thursday, November 16th, 2023 in Moses Lake, WA.

Andy was admitted to the hospital on 10/30/23 with phamonia, the next night on 10/31/23 they recommending moving him to hospice due to the wide spread of infection and later passed in hospice on 11/16/23.

Andy was born April 11th, 1941 in Lutie, Oklahoma to Martha Lee & William H Powell, the oldest of 5. As a child he relocated with his family to Sumner, WA where he attended Sumner High School. He was a resident of South King County for well over 60 years, in Pacific, Algona, and Auburn, WA area. Before retiring to Warden, WA near his brother.

Andy was an ambitious, humble, strong, independent, kind man and lived a full life with love for his family. He would give the shirt off his back if anyone needed his help. He was a Jack of all trades, worked at the Smith Brothers Dairy Farm, owned the Algona Tavern, a construction company, 2 car lots, wrecking yard and was a mechanic.

Some of Andy's favorite pastimes were going to auction's, tinkering on cars, and going to the swap meets. If he was not out in the yard he was spending time with his family telling stories, camping and fishing.

Andy is survived by his Wife of 48 years Cheryl, his 6 daughters, Kerri (Maurice) Grylls, Lonni Tegelberg, Kristi (Gary) Conley, Tonya (Cisco) Powell, Kelsey Powell and Whitnee Powell and his 12 grandkids (1 is due in December), 11 great-grandkids.

His daughter Kelsey is due with his grandson in December and his youngest daughter Whitnee was there by his side each day helping to care for him in his final days as a 22 yr old Nursing student.

His family is suffering from the tragic loss and is also facing unexpected costs for funeral services and reduction in income. We are hoping to help with the financial hardship during this time to help allow the family time to grieve and allow Andy’s life to be celebrated by those who love him in the coming months.

His family knows that he is at peace and no longer in pain. We also know he is with his Granddaughter Mareya now, bouncing her on his knee, on his shoulders and telling her stories for days.

Memorial arrangements will be forthcoming with close friends and family as we plan to hold on the Westside of Washington to allow all the family to be in attendance as the weather is warmer. All are looking forward to gathering around a camp fire to share stories with the kids as he used too.

Please consider donating to help his family to help provide piece of mind with these added expenses. Anything and everything helps. Whether you share this post or donate it will be greatly appreciated by the Powell family.

We thank you in advance for your help and generosity during this difficult time.
