Medical/Hospice Expenses for Kurt Anderson

As some of you may know, Kurt Anderson was hit by a distracted driver while riding his bike in October 2016.  Although we have taken as much care of him as we can, his body is very tired and we have reached the point that we will have to assist Leslie with burying her son.  Unfortunately, since Kurt did not have insurance at the time of the accident and he is uninsurable now, Medicaid is not covering many of the costs that will be associated with his transition or his funeral.  We are asking everyone we know (and even those we don't) to assist with deferring some of the costs which have become overwhelming between the medical bills and Kurt's everyday care.  

Please look into your heart and imagine how you would feel if this was your 22 year old son. While burying a child is unimaginable to many of us, it is only worse when it comes with the worry of how one financially affords to do it.

**UPDATE** 05/28/2019: Kurt is home and we are beginning to get him settled.  Trial and error is an understatement to the learning curve that we are taking on.  Over the weekend, we lost the trach tube and had to reinsert a new one.  Additionally, his feeding tube is trying to become infected so there is a doctor's appointment in the near future.  We were able to speak with someone at the Brain Injury Association of Georgia today, and she provided some valuable information on services that we may be able to procure.  We are in the process of chasing those leads down now, and we will update you all as we receive information.  We are currently looking into respite care as the amount of care required at this time is overwhelming.
