My name is Adeline. I'm a 19 year old, unemployed college dropout with some pretty severe mental illness. I had to drop out of college at the drop of a hat suddenly because my abusive family found out about my plans to get away from them and had to run. I am currently living with my partner, Finn, in his ex-boyfriend's house until we're financially stable enough to move out to Austin, Texas. This seemed fine at first, but ever since we got here, the situation has worsened.
My partner is regularly subject to sexual assault, both physical and verbal, we've both been threatened with physical violence or attacked, and Finn's ex-boyfriend has admitted to refusing to pay for food for us because we "don't deserve it." The ex-boyfriend has the final say in us staying here as well, and he could kick us out at any moment and leave us with literally nowhere to go in freezing temperatures with no jobs. He's also recently taken Finn's phone, cutting our chances of getting a job in half now that about 20 employers have a phone number to contact him at that no longer exists.
Neither of us can go back to our respective families. Finn is a transgender man and is regularly misgendered at his home, physically assaulted, and emotionally abused. My family guilt trips me, threatens me with physical violence, and gives me rape threats constantly. Our only hope is to move forward from here.
We need about $1000 for transportation, as my family threatened to arrest me if i didn't give them back my car. Then we need about $1000 to pay for the first month's expenses at the apartment we're hoping to get. And lastly we need another $1000 to pay for food and medical expenses while we job hunt in Texas after settling in. The extra $1000 is for any emergencies that may occur between now and then.
We've been trying for months to leave and nothing has changed. We're starting to lose hope. All we ask is for a little bit of help.
